R. Kelly Swishes Half-Court Shot To Beat Jamie Foxx {VIDEO}
R &B music icons R. Kelly and Jamie Foxx got together after the recent B.E.T. Awards and before the night was over the two were partaking in their second favorite pastime.
Kelly and Foxx ended up back at the latter’s home playing hoops late Sunday night, during which time the USA Today reports Kelly sank a half-court shot to win a pickup game. The website reports the game started at around 5.a.m. and played out until sunrise before Kelly ended all the drama with his heroics.
Kelly’s hoops reputation should have preceded him. Back in 1997, the 46-year-old singer, songwriter and producer known as the “King of R&B” signed on to play guard for the Atlantic City, New Jersey Seagulls of the United States Basketball League, averaging just over a point a game.
While on tour over the years, he’s been known to have basketball courts set up wherever he could and hire college and street players to take part in organized games with him. With the Seagulls, despite sparsely playing, he rarely missed practices and was there for all games.
As a high schooler, he played with the late Ben “Benji” Wilson and sang the song “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye” at the slain hoops legend’s funeral.
All wasn’t lost for Foxx, however. The ever-versatile superstar took home the award for best actor for his performance in Django Unchained and was also part of the singing contingent paying tribute to lifetime achievement award winner Charlie Wilson.
