WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan recently opened up about his lack of on-screen focus with his wife Brie Bella in WWE storylines as well as his appearances on the E! Network reality show Total Divas.
The Rock Comments On Possibly Facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32
Bryan told Fighting Spirit Magazine that WWE creative prefers to keep his relationship with Bella off of the regular WWE television shows and said that he thinks the creative team is hopeful that the WWE Universe will forget about their real-life marriage.
Bryan was also asked about possibly working with his wife as a team on RAW and SmackDown.
WWE Monday Night RAW Preview and Latest Rumors
"I would love that, but WWE has gotten away from doing the mixed tag team matches," Bryan told the publication. "Doing something with Brie would be a lot of fun, and I think the fans would really enjoy it, but our characters right now are at different places. I've heard that creative wants people to forget that we're actually married."
Bryan also said that being on Total Divas with Brie has given him a lot of exposure that he doesn't always get from being a WWE Superstar.
"I know for a fact that Total Divas has helped me in a way that I get recognized more by people who would never recognize me before," Bryan said. "Now, like, people will recognize me when I'm out to dinner or something. They'll be like, 'Hey, you're Bryan!' And that's how I know they recognize from Total Divas. People who watch Total Divas don't necessarily watch WWE, but now they're starting to. People get to see me for who I am. Some fans don't like that, and will actually boo for how I appear on Total Divas!"
Bryan and Bella have been married for almost a year after tying the knot on April 11, 2014 just days after Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans.
Bryan is set to take part in a seven-man Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship against title-holder Bad News Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, Luke Harper, Stardust and R-Truth in a match that could very well steal the show at WrestleMania 31.
Bella, meanwhile, will team up with her sister and reigning WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella to battle Paige and AJ Lee in a tag team match.
Bryan and Bella are on opposite sides of the spectrum in the WWE lately as Bryan is one of the biggest babyfaces in the company while Bella and her sister are the top heels in the Divas division.
WrestleMania 31 takes place live this Sunday, March 29 from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
