Derek Jeter, Hannah Davis: Star Couple Gets Close-Up View At Sumo Match [PHOTO]

Even though he will no longer be wearing a uniform, Derek Jeter is still involved with the game of baseball, which probably comes as a surprise to exactly no one. While Jeter has no official capacity with any team or Major League Baseball, he is still working to promote the game and build interest in the sport.

To that end, Jeter is currently on a trip to Japan to put on a charity baseball game along with former New York Yankees teammate and Japanese baseball legend Hideki Matsui. The game is being held to benefit survivors of the disastrous tsunami and earthquake that struck in 2011. While on vacation, Jeter brought along girlfriend Hannah Davis, and the two apparently decided to enjoy some of the local activities.

According to the New York Post, one of the things that the couple did was attend a sumo wrestling match. The couple was in Osaka on Thursday to watch the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament bouts.

Jeter and Davis had pretty good seats from the looks of things, and they got a bit more than an eyeful when the wrestlers entered the ring wearing their traditional sumo garb.

Jeter even met one of the wrestlers, and it became apparent that although he is a sports legend here in America, Jeter does not carry quite the same influence in Japan, despite the popularity of the sport there.

"He was a catcher or something like that, wasn't he?" top-ranked wrestler Tochiozan asked, according to the Japan Times.

In fairness, that may very well be more than Jeter knows about sumo wrestling.
