Brooklyn Nets, Kyle Korver Potential Match On Revamped Team?

The Brooklyn Nets are eyeing free-agent shooter Kyle Korver as a final piece to their revamped lineup.

A day after adding All-Stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in a trade with rival Boston, the Nets now covet the 32-year-old Korver for the role of off-the-bench shooter. As a member of the Atlanta Hawks, Korver shot nearly 46 percent from 3-point range last season and is a career 41.9 percent shooter from behind the arc.

Korver also has a history with Nets general manager Billy King, who acquired the rights to him for the Philadelphia 76ers on draft night 2003. Ironically enough, Korver was initially drafted in the second-round by the then New Jersey Nets, before King engineered the trade for him.

Korver has also played several seasons with star point guard Deron Williams when they were both members of the Utah Jazz.

After their somewhat surprise hiring of Jason Kidd as coach, the Nets have continued to recreate themselves. Jason Terry, who formerly played with Kidd in Dallas, was also part of the Boston deal and, much like the role being envisioned for Korver, will be counted on for his shooting.

Earlier this week, Kidd announced he had also signed former Nets coach Lawrence Frank to be one of his top assistants. Kidd previously played under Frank and the pair once led the Nets to back—to-back finals appearances.
