Brian Cashman, Yankees GM Says A-Rod Should "Shut The F--k Up": Alex Rodriguez Responds

Mere hours after New York Yankees general manager launched into a tirade where he suggested Alex Rodriguez should “shut the f--- up, the oft-injured star is responding with a much more controlled and contrived response.

"I will continue to work hard until my efforts get me back in pinstripes and help my team win," A-Rod  said to USA TODAY Sports. "The tweet was pure excitement about Dr. [Bryan] Kelly’s prognosis."

The tweet heard around the world that Rodriguez was apparently referring to came on Monday, when A-Rod posted a photo of himself under the heading that he had been cleared to return to games from the January hip surgery that has now sidelined him for months.

Upset that Rodriguez seemed to be releasing team related medical information before the organization was prepared to do so, Cashman didn’t hold back in letting it be known he felt A-rod might be overstepping his bounds.

Judging by Rodriguez’s latest, far more contrite statement, perhaps Cashman's words have seeped through.

Even when he’s officially ready to return, Rodriguez, 37, may not be able to. ESPN has previously reported his name is among those that has appeared in several documents in MLB's investigation into Anthony Bosch, the head of the Biogenesis lab that has been accused of distributing performance-enhancing drugs to players.

"Outside the Lines" has reported that baseball might seek to ban Rodriguez for as many as 100 games. The Yankees owe Rodriguez more than $100 million, plus possible bonuses, for a contract through 2017.
