Washington Nationals Spring Training Rumors: Gio Gonzalez 'Meows' 10 Times In Interview [VIDEO]

It's safe to say there is a very loose atmosphere among the defending National League East champion Washington Nationals in spring training this year.

Gio Gonzalez, one of the pitchers on a stacked starting rotation heading into the 2015 season, stole a page from the script of the movie Super Troopers and substituted "meow" for "now" 10 times during a spring training interview.

Gonzalez, egged on by new teammate Max Scherzer counting along the "meows," discussed the team having fun in the loose clubhouse.

"I mean right meow, we have Max," Gonzales said, "whose been great with us and you know having fun and keeping it nice and loose. And you know...we're just on our toes and just having fun and smiling most of the time, but right meow we're just doing it right and having fun."

Gonzalez also discussed dealing with a shoulder injury in 2014 and having to bounce-back after his first ever stint on the disabled list.

"I mean meow I've been getting my exercises in and just working on shoulder exercises and just feeling great about it," Gonzalez said. "Just talking to a couple of the players that know and have experienced some shoulder inflammation. And meow I feel great and I think it's just gonna get better and better."

Gonzalez continued to drop "meows" throughout the rest of the interview, but the team is hopeful a loose atmosphere will lead to some serious results on the diamond.

The Nationals are coming off of a season where they went 96-66 and won the NL East for the second time in three seasons.

Just like 2012, Washington was disappointingly eliminated in the first round, losing to the eventual World Series champion San Francisco Giants in four games.

Gonzalez, 29, is coming off a 2014 season that saw him go 10-10 with a 3.57 ERA.

For Washington, the time is meow.
