Jim Harbaugh, 49ers Bad Blood? Franchise Denies removing Harbaugh Items From Museum Over Spite [VIDEO]

It wouldn't be that unusual for the San Francisco 49ers to want to turn the page completely from Jim Harbaugh, but they insist they're not.

The San Jose Mercury News is reporting that the 49ers removed a Harbaugh exhibit from their museum, but the 49ers argued that the move had nothing to do with Harbaugh and everything to do with current running back Frank Gore.

Jed York, Jim Tomsula sabotaged Jim Harbaugh's job?

"A mannequin previously wearing a black sweatshirt, black ball cap and khakis is now wearing a Frank Gore uniform," the Mercury News reported.

The 49ers were quick to discount the conspiracy theorists.

"Reports around the Internet that we're trying to expunge all memories of Jim -- that's not the case at all," 49ers P.R. boss Bob Lange told the publication.

Adam Gase turned down 49ers head coaching position because of Jim Tomsula?

Lange said that Gore surpassed 11,000 yards for his career last season and donated his uniform to the 49ers.

"I think Jim would be the first to tell you if someone were to make room for Frank, he'd want it to be him," said Lange, who also points out that numerous vestiges of Harbaugh still linger about the museum.

Lange said the khakis could even make their way back into the rotation someday.

"Only 10 percent of our 2,000 pieces can be on display at any one time," Lange said.

Last month, Harbaugh decided to open up and talk about his point of view in the breakup with the 49ers, saying management initiated the split.

Harbaugh's comments called out owner Jed York and general manager Trent Baalke for firing him without explanation. Harbaugh added that new coach Jim Tomsula actively campaigned for his job before he was even fired.

But the 49ers insist that the removal was strictly a matter of getting more artifacts to be seen in the museum.
