PGA Tour Leaderboard: Rory McIlroy and Just Rose Commit to BMW PGA Championship

The European Tour's flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, will continue its trend of regularly attracting the strongest field on the schedule. Rory McIlroy and his Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose confirmed they will both feature at the event in May.

"Growing up in Belfast, the BMW PGA Championship always featured high on my list of priorities along with the major championships," said McIlroy (via Sky Sports). "To return to Wentworth as defending champion is a huge honor, and I can't wait to draw on the memories of 2014."

McIlroy won the event in 2014, overcoming a seven-shot deficit overnight with a final round of 66. It was his victory on British soil and ended an 18-month losing spell.

As for Rose, finishing atop the leaderboard in Wentworth is venturing into the unknown. The 2013 U.S. Open Champion finished runner-up twice over the West Course, losing out to Anders Hansen in 2007 and Luke Donald in 2012.

"Our family lived close to Wentworth, and I was always excited each May to attend the event with my dad," said Rose. "The BMW PGA Championship is rightly regarded as the flagship event of the European Tour, and it is a privilege to join forces with Rory to bring the event to the attention of the millions of people who daily live and work in Greater London and the visitors who come to such a vibrant city."

The BMW PGA Championship will be held from May 19-24 at the Wentworth Club in Surrey.
