Steve Francis Was Choked Out With Own Chain During Onstage Brawl At A Rap Concert [VIDEO]

Steve Francis was once on the track for stardom in the NBA, and while he never quite made it to the heights that many expected, he was still a three-time All Star and a productive player. None of that mattered over the weekend in Houston, where Francis was on the wrong end of an altercation at a concert.

According to TMZ, the 38-year old Francis was in Houston - where he lived for a while during his career when he played for the Houston Rockets - and attended a rap show with the Sauce Twinz. Francis was onstage when an ambitious thief apparently decided that he wanted the gold chain Francis was wearing.

The thief crept up behind Francis and tried to yank the chain off, but it did not break, so Francis was dragged to the ground. The thief briefly choked Francis with the chain until he could get it from around the former NBA player's neck.

There is no word on the identity of the thief, but the Sauce Twinz apparently feel terrible that it happened at their show, and they want to help make things right.

"Steve is good people," said Sauce Diddy, manager of the group. "He's going to get his chain back. I'm going to make sure of it. One way or another."

Sauce Diddy went on to assert that the thief is in no way connected to the group, but he also said Francis could have done a better job protecting himself.

"He must have been drunk," said Sauce Diddy. "He was mumbling on the mic and bumping into people. At one point, one of my artists tried to get Steve to leave the stage."

When asked if the police were involved in the hunt for the chain, Sauce Diddy replied, "Nobody's calling the police. We're gonna find it. We're gonna get it back."
