Oscar Pistorius Trial Appeal:June Steenkamp Vows Not To Focus On Fate of 'Blade Runner' [VIDEO]

The mother of Oscar Pistorius' slain girlfriend says she has washed her hands of the "Blade Runner" and his ongoing legal issues.

The lawyers for Pistorius, who is serving a five-year sentence on a culpable homicide charge in the shooting death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, are returning to court next month to challenge the appeal granted to prosecutors to retry the case and draw a murder conviction.

Pistorius, who was found guilty of culpable homicide in September over the Valentine's Day, 2013, incident and sentenced a month later, is scheduled to go before an appeals court later this year, in which prosecutors will argue that he should be charged with murder after shooting Steenkamp four times through a bathroom door in his home in Pretoria, South Africa.

June and Barry Steenkamp, Reeva's parents, were present during a large portion of Pistorius' original seven-month trial before Judge Thokozile Masipa. They were unhappy with the verdict but say they feel no ill will toward Pistorius.

However, they had to borrow money from Pistorius after Reeva was killed to pay their bills.

When asked for a reaction to the latest news that Pistorius was attempting to overturn the granted appeal, June Steenkamp denied having an opinion.

"I'm not focusing my life any more on Oscar," she told the Guardian. "If by law they condemn him to a longer sentence, that's got nothing to do with me. What happens to Oscar now happens to Oscar. It isn't going to affect me. Reeva is never going to walk through that door again."

June added: "I'm not a vengeful person and I don't wish ill on anyone. The appeal is up to the law. The law must take its course and God must take His course."

If Pistorius' defense team can get the appeal overturned, then the 28-year-old double amputee sprinter who competed in the 2012 London Olympics, could be eligible for house arrest next summer after serving 10 months of his sentence.

If the prosecution is able to convince the appeals court to change the verdict to murder, Pistorius would be facing a 15-year prison term minimum.
