Once again, Lolo Jones is making headlines, and it has nothing to do with her athletic performance.
PEOPLE Magazine reported that the Summer Olympics hurder and the Winter Olympics push athlete has caused a minor furor with one of her tweets.
The 32-year-old Jones, a self-proclaimed virgin, criticized the popularity of the movie, "Fifty Shades of Grey," and subsequently took her share of grief for stating her opinion.
"Critics immediately responded to Jones, questioning her opinion due to the fact that she is a virgin," PEOPLE reported, "but their comments aren't bothering the athlete."
"I'm not changing my thoughts," Jones told the magazine. "I'm standing firm."
Besides, Jones is no stranger to controversy on Twitter.
"I get backlash on every Tweet I do," Jones told PEOPLE at the Gold Meets Golden event to benefit the Special Olympics in Los Angeles last weekend. "If you really are influenced by the opinions of Twitter, then it'll break you down. But not me. You got to stand firm in your beliefs and know what you're standing for."
Meanwhile, Jones is starting to train again in hurdles with the plan of qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She recently had surgery to repair a torn labrum in her left shoulder and is only beginning to train.
Jones competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics as a push athlete in the women's bobsled and finished 11th with driver Jazmine Fenlator.
She famously tripped on the next-to-last hurdle in the 100-meter hurdles in the 2008 Olympics that cost her a gold medal. Four years later, she missed a bronze medal by one-tenth of a second.
