Baltimore Ravens Rumors: Terrell Suggs Suing Dead Agent Over Contract

The Baltimore Ravens came up just short against the New England Patriots in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs. As the team heads into the offseason, they are looking to reload for another playoff run in the 2015 season.

For one Ravens player, the offseason also brings a different type of challenge. Terrell Suggs has a legal issue that he will work to resolve so that he can get back to focusing on football.

According to TMZ, Suggs is currently trying to sue his former agent, Gary Wichard, who passed away in 2011. Wichard negotiated Suggs' current deal with Baltimore, and Suggs was supposed to pay Wichard three percent of his salary in exchange  for Wichard's agency managing Suggs' career closely and find him new endorsement deals.

When Wichard passed away, Suggs says that the agency passed him off to an "inexperienced and unqualified agent." Suggs also says that the new agent completely let him down after he had the best season of his career in 2011 when he failed to get Suggs any endorsement deals.

Suggs also says that when he tore his Achilles in 2012, he expected his agent to "take the lead on contacting doctors, setting up appointments, coordinating rehabilitation, and all other related matters," but that his agent did not help him.

Wichard's estate has demanded nearly $200,000 from Suggs, which he refused to pay. The dispute went to an arbitrator, who ruled against Suggs. Now, Suggs is taking the matter to court, where a federal judge could overturn the arbitrator's decision and prevent him from having to pay Wichard's estate.
