Tiger Woods Forbes List Top Earner In 2012

Having won 50 percent of the events he’s played in this year, Tiger Woods’ golf game is clearly back in form.

And, if the 2012 Forbes list for highest paid athletes is any indication, so too is his public image. Woods ranks atop the list with earnings of $78.1 million last year, some $65 million of it deriving from high-profile endorsements.

It’s quite the change from three years ago years when Woods and wife Elin Nordegren endured a public divorce when as many as a dozen women came forward with accusations they were having affairs with him. Many of them then released incriminating voicemails and text messages to bolster their claims.

Woods and Nordegren soon divorced, with her receiving a reported $110 million divorce settlement. Business Insider also reported Woods lost more than $22 million in endorsements deals when several sponsors chose to end relationships with him.

But all now seems forgiven, as the 37-year-old golfer has returned to the top of the World Golf Rankings and the Forbes list. Olympic skier and new girlfriend Lindsey Vonn also recently told People Magazine “just are happy” in their relationship.

The two began dating in March of this year and made their first red carpet appearance together last month at the Met Costume Institute Gala in New York.

”We’re similar,”Vonn told People. “We’re both at the top of our sports, and we relate really well to each other.
