New England Patriots: Tim Tebow Honored To Be With The Team

Tim Tebow is officially a member of the New England Patriots and couldn't be happier. The polarizing quarterback called the opportunity to play for coach Bill Belichick and learn from Tom Brady "an honor" and expects his tenure with the team "to be a lot of fun." Tebow will also wear No. 5 with the Patriots, the number he wore at Nease High School before attending the University of Florida.

"First and foremost, I just want to thank the Patriots for giving me an opportunity," he said. "I'm very thankful. It's such an honor to be a Patriot and play for coach [Bill] Belichick and coach [Josh] McDaniels, and learn under Tom [Brady] and be a part of this great franchise and very successful franchise. I found out first hand; lost to them several times.

"It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to working hard every single day and getting a lot better and learning under some great people. That's all I got. Thank you all so much and God bless. I'm sure we'll be talking more soon."

Although many speculate that Tebow will be used in different packages, Bellichick would not give a definite answer to which position the former Heisman Trophy winner will play. However, ESPN reports that sources have said Tebow will remain at quarterback behind future Hall of Famer Tom Brady.

A Yahoo! Sports report from last month originally reported that there was "no chance" for Tebow to join the Patriots and that Belichick disliked him as a player. "Yeah, I like Tim. I have a lot of respect for Tim," Belichick said in response to the claim.

Tebow is once again reunited with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who drafted him in the first round out of Florida while serving as the Denver Broncos' head coach.

The contract details were not disclosed, however it is being reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter that both sides reached an agreement on a two-year deal for the veteran minimum.
