Princeton Gets Bomb Threat, Campus Evacuated
Authorities at Princeton University ordered the evacuation of the New Jersey campus early Tuesday after receiving an unspecified bomb threat.
"There has been a bomb threat to multiple unspecified campus buildings," the school said in a press release obtained by Yahoo! "Please evacuate the campus and all University offices immediately go home unless otherwise directed by your supervisor. Public Safety officers and Princeton Police will direct drivers leaving the campus and those without cars will be directed to evacuation sites. You will receive an update later today. Do not return to campus for any reason until advised otherwise."
The Ivy League institution is currently on summer session, meaning less students are on campus than what might be normal. Commencement was held on June 4. The university is the fourth oldest institution in the U.S. and, according to its web site, has more than 1,100 faculty members, 5,000 undergraduate students, and 2,500 graduate students
School officials later tweeted “most students left campus days or weeks ago. Later they posted: "Campus evacuation underway with bomb threat. We will provide updates as information becomes available."
A spokesman for Governor Chris Christie later told the media he was not in Princeton, home of the executive mansion Drumthwacket.
