Russell Wilson Texas Rangers: Spring Training Appearance Good for Both Seahawks Quarterback and MLB Club? [VIDEO]

Russell Wilson's loss is the Texas Rangers' gain. In more ways than one.

Fox Sports Southwest reported Tuesday that Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks star quarterback, again will report to the Texas Rangers' spring training camp, following his football team's defeat in Super Bowl XLIX.

Russell Wilson's blackness an issue in the Seahawks locker room?

Rangers general manager John Daniels said the specifics of Wilson's spring training camp appearance still are being worked out, according to Fox Sports Southwest.

The report added that, "Wilson spent a day in camp with the club last spring, taking infield, talking with minor leaguers and watching the team play an exhibition game."

It is uncertain how long Wilson will take part in Texas' spring-training workouts this season. The special guest appearance likely will help take football off Wilson's mind after his interception with 18 seconds left at the goal line helped the New England Patriots preserve a 28-24 victory over his Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

But NFL.com adds that Wilson's presence could be more beneficial to the Texas Rangers.

"It's Wilson's leadership example, both in winning last season and how he handled the devastating loss on Sunday, which is the biggest asset to the Rangers organization," NFL.com speculated.

Wilson has been drafted twice by teams in the MLB - once by the Baltimore Orioles out of high school, and once by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round as a second baseman after he attended college, Fox Sports Southwest reported. He hit .228 for the Rockies' Class A affiliate in 2011.

"I think God kind of directed my steps," Wilson said in a conference call with reporters on Wednesday, according to ESPN Dallas. "If I would have played baseball full-time, I believe it would've worked out. I was dedicated to playing baseball when I was playing baseball. I was dedicated to football when I was playing football. I believe I had the talent. Obviously being drafted by the Texas Rangers was a pretty cool thing last year. So to be a part of that organization is a great thing. It's really an honor."
