Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez Set for Return; 3 Clubs the Mexico International Should Consider

There's no future for Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez at Real Madrid. As if a lack of playing time wasn't enough evidence—the 26-year-old has only featured in 164 league minutes—Madrid director of institutional services Emilio Butragueno did little to provide the striker a vote of confidence in a recent trip to Mexico.

"It is Carlo [Ancelotti's] decision," Butragueno said (via the Express). "Javier trains well and is a great professional, but without any doubt the competition for places is very tough."

All signs point to a return to Manchester United at season's end, with Madrid passing on an opportunity to make the season-long loan a permanent transfer. If recent history is any indication, manager Louis van Gaal won't exactly be welcoming him with open arms. Italian giants Juventus are rumored to be interested in his services, but a front line of Carlos Tevez, Alvaro Morata and Fernando Llorente only recreates the same struggle for playing time plaguing Hernandez's career.

Moving to a mid-table side in any of Europe's top leagues is always an option, but there are more creative transfers that should be considered to return to prominence.

Chivas Guadalajara

Much like Chicharito's career, Chivas Guadalajara have fallen on hard times, struggling to remain in Mexico's first division. A reunion would reinvigorate the reputations of both parties.

Chicago Fire

If there's any league prepared to overpay for players, it's Major League Soccer. Michael Bradley ($6.5 million) Jozy Altidore ($5.5 million) and Sebastian Giovinco ($7.2 million) are recent examples of the league's desperation for world-renown relevance. Much like the league itself, the Chicago Fire are in search of the same. Signing Hernandez is the first step in obtaining it.

PSV Eindhoven

Defending is optional in the Eredivisie. Hernandez needs goals to boost his confidence. It all adds up and moving to the top-tier of Holland checks all the required boxes: Europe, Champions League minutes and titles. It's an opportunity that makes too much sense to pass on.
