Philadelphia Eagles Marcus Mariota Rumors: LeSean McCoy Doesn't Want To 'Pull A Redskins' For 2014 Heisman

The Philadelphia Eagles had a disappointing end to the season when they missed the playoffs, but they still feature a talented roster and a prolific offense. They are now turning their attention to how they can improve their team to make another playoff run next year.

There are rumors that the team has interest in moving up to take a quarterback. Nick Foles had an excellent season in 2013, but he was ineffective and injured during 2014. The team is rumored to be considering a trade to draft Oregon quarterback and former Chip Kelly pupil Marcus Mariota.

According to NJ.com, not everyone is super excited about the idea, and that includes star running back LeSean McCoy.

"I'm not sure. Because the thing is, we want to win now," McCoy said of the team possibly drafting Mariota. "I think we have the right players in the locker room to win. (Mariota is) a good quarterback, but I think we have a good quarterback."

Mariota just completed one of the best careers by any quarterback in college history, and he is already familiar with many of the concepts in Philadelphia's offense. Last season, Foles and injury replacement Mark Sanchez often failed to deliver the ball on time to receivers, and they occasionally missed wide open receivers altogether. Mariota is also more mobile than either of them.

"That's something that we have to wait and see. That's not my call. I think every situation is different," McCoy said of making a trade to move up. "Some of those other teams like the (Washington) Redskins, they gave up everything to get (quarterback Robert Griffin III). And if things don't work out like you plan, then what? Who is to blame? There are a lot of questions going into those types of situations where you want to give up a whole draft for just one player."

"He's talented," McCoy said of Mariota, "One thing I have to say is he's a talent. He can run, he's fast, he can make the right throws, he's smart with the reads and he's very safe. As a player, I'm a fan of his for sure."
