Rex Ryan Guarantee [VIDEO]: Promises To 'Build Buffalo Bills Into A 'Bully,' Guarantees Playoffs [VIDEO]

Rex Ryan made a name for himself during his time with the New York Jets for being unafraid to make bold proclamations about his team's performance, and he was up to his old tricks during his first press conference with the Buffalo Bills.

Ryan was known for his bravado and confidence during his time with the Jets, and he did not disappoint when he took the podium for the Bills. According to ESPN, he began the conference by tapping the microphone and saying, "Is this thing on? Because it's getting ready to be on."

Early on, he acknowledged the fans and mentioned that he understands how badly they want to make the postseason for the first time in more than a decade. "I'm not going to let our fans down," he said. "I'm not going to do that. I know it's been 15 years [since Buffalo reached the playoffs]. Well, get ready. We're going."

Ryan's Jets were known for being a rough and tumble team that wanted to grind on opponents with their physicality, and he wants the Bills to be the same on the field. "We are going to build a bully and we're gonna see if you want to play it for 60 minutes," he said.

Despite frequently making headlines for his comments, Ryan was a successful coach with the Jets. His teams were always great on the defensive side of the ball, they played hard regardless of game situation, and they remained competitive for most of Rex's tenure despite severe limitations at the quarterback position.

Ryan will inherit one of the league's most dominant defenses, but he thinks that they can improve on last year. "Fourth in the league was probably a little disappointing," he said. "I know we'll lead the league in defense."

Ryan also may have taken a shot at former Bills coach Doug Marrone when he said that the team deserves "a loyal coach." Marrone opted out of his contract once the season ended to pursue other opportunities.
