With the WWE-based website reporting the news, it appears to be a lock that Savage will be announced for the honor on Monday night after years of many wrestling fans being upset over him being snubbed from the Hall of Fame.

Savage was a huge WWE star in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but his relationship with Vince McMahon soured upon his defection to WCW in 1994.

There are many rumors as to what caused the rift between McMahon and Savage, who thrived in WCW, but regardless of the reasons, the two never seemed to get on the same page after he left for the WWE's chief rival in '94.

Savage, who passed away in 2011 after suffering a sudden heart attack while driving with his wife, was a two-time WWE Heavyweight Champion one-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and four-time WCW Heavyweight Champion during his illustrious career.

While he had a rocky relationship with McMahon, the WWE Chairman wrote a touching tribute to Savage in Time Magazine following his passing.

There have been many rumored names for this year's Hall of Fame, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Sting, Rikishi, Kevin Nash (as Diesel or with the nWo), Mickie James and local California legend Ray "The Crippler" Stevens.

The 2015 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony takes place on the eve of WrestleMania 31 in the Bay Area on March 28.

With Savage being a huge name, it is possible that the WWE saves some of the other plans for another year in order to have other big stars headline the Hall of Fame down the line.

Known for his crazy promos and his off-the-wall persona, Savage was also a great in-ring worker and one of the most beloved figures in professional wrestling history.

Now, he'll likely finally find his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame.
