OJ Simpson News: 'Juice' Heisman Trophy Stolen, Police Have Warrant To Search For Missing Memorabilia

OJ Simpson has been in the news off and on for years now, and for almost entirely negative reasons. He is in the headlines once again this week, as the Los Angeles Police Department has obtained a search warrant to help them locate the Juice's stolen Heisman Memorial Trophy.

According to TMZ, the trophy was stolen from the University of Southern California's Heritage Hall back in 1994. Now, the police have obtained the search warrant so that they can secure the phone records of the man that they believe is the one that took the trophy.

Simpson won the award in 1968 as a member of the Trojans. He went on to have a Hall of Fame NFL career that included becoming the first back to ever rush for 2,000 yards in a single season. Since he retired, Simpson's life has gone off the rails a bit, as he has had numerous encounters with the law, most notably for the alleged murder of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.

Simpson's Heisman and his #32 jersey both disappeared from USC after the trophy case that held them was dismantled.

The case was considered closed until November, when a man called USC claiming that he had purchased the trophy and that he wanted to make sure that it was authentic. However, the LAPD believes that he may in fact be the man that stole it.

If the police do in fact prove that he is the man that stole the trophy, there is little that can be done to prosecute the man, as the statute of limitations on that kind of theft has expired.
