Randy Orton WWE Rumors: 'The Viper' Slated To Return This Week As WrestleMania Season Approaches [VIDEO]

WWE Superstar Randy Orton is slated to return soon after taking time off to film a movie and "The Viper" is set to factor into major storylines heading into WrestleMania 31 season.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Orton is slated to return at this week's WWE live events as he is done filming his WWE Studios movie.

Orton is set to return as a babyface as the WWE wrote him off by giving him a beat down at the hands of Triple H, Kane and Seth Rollins on an episode of Monday Night RAW last month.

Orton has appeared backstage during some WWE shows over the last couple of months, but he has been held off television. "The Viper" was even kept out of the Survivor Series pay-per-view event on Nov. 23 despite the fact that it took place at the Scottrade Center in his hometown of St. Louis.

It is expected upon his return that Orton will feud with "Mr. Money in the Bank" Rollins as Rollins was at the center of his beat down last month.

There are reports that Orton may start off with a program with Kane before moving onto a feud with Rollins, but it remains to be seen what the WWE will do on live events and television going forward.

Orton will also likely be in the 30-man over-the-top-rope Royal Rumble match at the Royal Rumble event on Jan. 25 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

It's not official yet as the only person to announce their entrance into the match so far is Roman Reigns. Reigns is the favorite to be the last Superstar standing and go onto WrestleMania 31 to face the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, which will likely be Brock Lesnar.

While there have been several rumored matches for WrestleMania 31 on Mach 29 at Levi's Stadium in California -- including Reigns vs. Lesnar, John Cena vs. Rusev, Sting vs. Triple H and The Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt -- there haven't been any concrete rumors surrounding Orton, so his role at the biggest show of 2015 is up in the air.

After being absent from television, Orton is slated to return to action this week as the WWE marches toward WrestleMania 31 in early 2015.
