Steve Forrest, S.W.A.T. Dies At 87

Longtime S.W.A.T. actor Steve Forest has died at 87. Forrest starred for much of the 1970s in the role of Lt. Dan “Hondo” Harrelson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he died peacefully in his Thousand Oaks home pm May 18.

In all, Forest spent more than 60-years on the Hollywood scene, starring in such TV series as Playhouse 90, Lux Video Theater and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, according to The Reporter.  He was also a fixture in Western themed flicks, starring in such classic cult series as Gunsmoke, Bonanza and The Virginian.

Forrest got his start in the film industry 1953, starring alongside the legendary Jane Wyman in the film So Big, a role that later earned him the Golden Globes New Star of the Year honor. Created by famed TV producer Aaron Spelling and based on a 2003 film by the same name, Forrest starred on the ABC series S.W.A.T. for two seasons.

He also later starred as John Mannering, an antique dealer/secret agent, in the hit British crime drama The Baron, a series still revered as the first color series on British TV.

Forrest is survived by his wife of 65 years, Christine, sons Michael, Forrest and Stephen and four grandchildren.
