Bellator president Scott Coker spoke with MMAFighting.com on Tuesday and confirmed that the company has been in talks with Del Rio, who owns a 9-5 record in the MMA realm.

"I think that we did reach out," Coker told the website, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com. "I'm not sure where that is and by no means is it in the 11th hour, but I know there's some dialogue going on."

It was reported earlier this month that Bellator made a push for Del Rio after seeing UFC make a huge splash by inking former WWE Superstar CM Puk to a deal.

Since leaving the WWE, Del Rio has worked for AAA and even became the World Heavyweight Champion in that promotion after defeating El Texano earlier this month.

Del Rio has plans to work for El Ray and AAA's Lucha Underground in 2015 while Ring of Honor has also announced some matches for the Superstar, who is going under the name of Alberto El Patron these days.

On top of Bellator's offer, TNA has also reportedly made Del Rio a lucrative offer to the tune of a one-year $400,000 pact. Del Rio is not expected to join the organization because it wants exlusivity to him and he has many plans.

TNA, however, could always land him if it drops the exclusivity clause as it is trying to convince him he can get more exposure on American television on TNA and the money they're offering is substantial.

Del Rio was released by the WWE on Aug. 7 for slapping a social media worker who allegedly passed a racist comment about him by saying that it was Del Rio's job to clean off his plate in catering behind the former WWE Superstar's back.

The two sides recently worked out a deal where Del Rio's no-compete clause was lifted in exchange for the former WWE Superstar not bashing the company publicly or painting it in a racist light.

Del Rio's options just got even more intriguing as Bellator MMA has made a play for the former WWE Champion.
