The New York Knicks lost to the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, and Tyson Chandler shared his thoughts afterward about Carmelo Anthony. Chandler and Anthony were teammates for the past few seasons in New York, although Chandler returned to Dallas prior this past offseason.
Evan Turner: 'Jesus Was Hated Too'
Chandler received a warm welcome in his return to Madison Square Garden, but he admitted he feels sorry that Carmelo has to be the superstar and face of a struggling franchise.
"I do because he's a competitor," said Chandler. "I laced them up and went to battle with him for the last three years and know what kind of competitor he is.
"I know he wants to win, and I know he's going to take a lot of this heat," continued Chandler. "And it's unfortunate because he's a hell of a player in our league. It's just unfortunate."
Anthony To Request Trade If Losing Continues?
The loss dropped the Knicks to 5-22 on the season, and reports are emerging out of New York that every player on the team except for Anthony is a candidate to be traded. For his part, Anthony spoke highly of Chandler before the game and suggested that fans should welcome Chandler back after he played hard for the Knicks in previous years.
Chandler went on to discuss how losing can make everything harder for a team, but he added that he thinks things can still work out for New York once they get the right pieces in place.
