Liverpool Transfer News: Guillermo Ochoa Agrees to £3 Million Deal for January Transfer Window

Confidence in Simon Mignolet has all but dissipated in Liverpool. The search for a competent goalkeeper won't fasten the club atop the Premier League table; however, it remains a much-needed step for manager Brendan Rodgers.

Enter Guillermo Ochoa.

According to Metro (via Goal Transfer Talk), the Mexican international has agreed to sign with the Reds for £3 million. Per the report, the intentions are to bring Ochoa in the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old is seeing no semblance of playing time at Malaga since joining from Ajaccio. Despite a stellar 2014 World Cup, Ochoa's desperation for playing time has peaked. With Mignolet out of favor in Liverpool, the opportunity to become the club's new No. 1 is there. The Belgian international was benched ahead of the club's 3-0 loss to Manchester United and will remain there for the foreseeable future.

"I felt I had to change it because we have to find solutions throughout the squad to be better," Rodgers said (via BBC). "I said to Simon that it's for an indefinite period."

"Simon's been fine," he added. "He's a really good professional. I spoke to him the other day and he accepted it and understood it. It can sometimes happen to a keeper where you come out of the firing line and it can help you and allow you time to reflect."

With Ochoa's arrival to Anfield Stadium, that time to reflect will extend beyond Mignolet's liking.
