WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan recently addressed the topic of homosexuality in professional wrestling and shared his thoughts about why it's not an issue for him.

Hogan spoke with The Huffington Post about athletes that have come out in recent years and about gay athletes being involved in the realm of professional wrestling.

"I think everybody's been reeducated, so it's not that big a deal," Hogan told the publication. "At least for me -- and I can only speak from my heart -- I've got people all around me who are gay, so it's not an issue with me. I think the whole world feels like that now."

WWE Superstar Darren Young is one of the latest athletes to openly come out, but Hall of Famer Pat Patterson also revealed he is gay in the past and Hogan gave his thoughts on the first-ever Intercontinental Champion and his lifestyle.

"I knew Pat was gay back in 1976, when he helped me start wrestling," Hogan said. "Whenever I see Pat, I give him a big hug and kiss. He's my guy! There are several wrestlers in Japan who are gay. I've just never looked at it as anything weird. It was normal."

Hogan said that wrestlers and humans in today's day and age have lost the "barbaric mindset" when it comes to allowing people to be who they are. Hogan said that Patterson had to repress who he really was for many years.

"Back when Pat was wrestling, he was afraid to be who he really is -- or was meant to be -- because of all this stuff he inherited from society," he said. "'You're supposed to be this tough wrestler.' 'You're supposed to be this good-looking, platinum blonde champion who goes out and dates the best looking women.' 'You're supposed to be this.' 'You're supposed to be that.'"

He continued: "But that's not true!" Pat Patterson is supposed to be who he's meant to be, not who people think he should be, if that makes any sense."

As far as The Hulkster's in-ring career goes, the WWE Hall of Famer has reportedly been hoping to compete in a match at WrestleMania 31 on March 29 at Levi's Stadium in California.

Hogan has campaigned to face John Cena at the event, but there are rumors that the "Cenation" leader may be battling Rusev at the "Show of Shows."

Hogan, 61, may have "Hulkamania" run wild one more time at the biggest event of the year in 2015.
