Chicago Blackhawks Rumors: Jonathan Toews Injury Update After Captain Leaves Game Against Bruins [VIDEO]

Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews exited Thursday night's game against the Boston Bruins after being hit midway through the second period and didn't return, but he is expected to be okay.

Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg received a boarding penalty after he propelled Toews into the wall 10:04 into the middle frame and it appeared that the captain injured his neck.

Toews remained in the game for the 5-on-3 power play, but took a hooking penalty 49 seconds later and did not return. Toews was held off the scoresheet in the game.

Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said that Toews seemed okay Thursday night, but the team will know more later on Friday.

"Yeah, he seemed all right," Quenneville told NHL.com after Thursday's game. "We'll see how he is tomorrow. It looks like he's going to be all right."

Chicago ended up winning the game 3-2 to notch its eighth straight victory and Patrick Kane notched the game-winner. Thursday marked the third match of a four-game road trip that wraps up with a tilt against the New York Islanders in Long Island on Saturday.

Toews is second on the Blackhawks this season with 11 goals and 23 points and he has added 12 assists on the campaign while rating a plus-seven.

The Blackhawks became the first team to notch 20 wins in the NHL this season and improved their mark to 20-8-1 (41 points) overall as their winning streak has propelled them to the top of the Central Division standings.
