The Washington franchise is a mess, and head coach Jay Gruden is at odds with the front office over quarterback Robert Griffin III. Griffin was once thought to be the franchise's savior, though now many have a different view. Gruden has benched Griffin this season, and he has not shied away form giving his opinion of the young quarterback.

According to media reports, Gruden spoke out again this week, saying that he is unsure whether Griffin could succeed in any NFL offense.
"I don't know what offense they are talking about," said Gruden. "As far as offenses that I have studied in the National Footbal League, we all run similar dropback concepts. Not everybody runs the zone read.
"We run the zone read to try to help him out," Gruden continued. "We run a lot more play-actions and bootlegs than most teams... If you play quarterback in the National Football League, you're going to have to drop back and throw it."

Gruden has been outspoken previously about not wanting to have RGIII as his quarterback, believing that the young passer has poor mechanics and cannot deliver the precise throws that Gruden's offense requires. Benching RGIII may have put Gruden at odds with the front office, most notably team owner Daniel Snyder.
The team surrendered a boatload of draft picks to move up and take Griffin, and it is a well-known fact that Snyder remains enamored with the young man that he believes will return the franchise to glory.
Many have speculated that Griffin will be moved to another team where he can start fresh, but other envision a scenario where Griffin remains with the team and Gruden is let go. "Gruden could be 'one and done,'" said a team official this week. Snyder has previously fired a coach after only one season, and it is certainly plausible that, if forced to choose between Griffin and Gruden, he would stick with the quarterback that he so clearly loves.
