New York Jets top draft pick Dee Milliner has parted ways with his agent after the highly-decorated former Alabama star mysteriously slipped out of the top five in the most recent NFL draft. Milliner was taken with the ninth pick overall, the first of two first round selections owned by the Jets who also selected Missouri defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson at No. 13.

Nonetheless, Milliner announced his week he was terminating his contract with Impact Sports and lead agent Tony Fleming. As per league rules, he must now wait a minimum of five days before signing with another agent.

At that point, Milliner is expected to ink a deal with super-agent Pat Dye, who has a history of representing Alabama players.

Milliner thus becomes the second new Jets players to part ways with their agent after being selected lower in the draft than they once anticipated. Quarterback Geno Smith, once projected to go top 10, also fired his agent after slipping all the way into the second round.

“I know that everything was done to ensure that Mr. Milliner would be drafted as high as possible,” Fleming told NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. said. “Dee was the first cornerback selected, and he was drafted ninth overall… this is a tremendous accomplishment. I wish Mr. Milliner future success in his professional career.”

Impact Sports has represented 12 first-round picks since 2000, with several in the top 10. Milliner is the first during that time to part ways with them.
