New York Jets Rumors: Rex Ryan, Marty Mornhinweg Relationship In Shambles [VIDEO]

The New York Jets are 2-10 and one of the biggest laughingstocks of the NFL. If new details emerging Friday are to be believed, their horrible season has as much to do with behind-the-scenes in-fighting between coaches as it does with subpar talent.

A new report from SB Nation paints a damning portrait of the relationship between head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, highlighted by the two "snipping behind each others' backs." Their supposed negative feelings towards one another has exacerbated the team's "toxic" team culture this season.

Rex Ryan Knew Of the Plot To Fire Him

The feud is said to stem from a difference in offensive mindsets. Ryan has always favored a traditional ground-and-pound approach to playcalling, while Mornhinweg favors airing it out in a West-Coast style.

The article also indicates that the Jets run-heavy playcalling in Monday night's matchup vs. Miami might have been Mornhinweg's way of sticking it to Ryan using the latter's own philosophy. Mornhinweg is already Ryan's third offensive coordinator in just six seasons.

Ryan for his part vehemently denied the veracity of the SB Nation story to reporters on Friday.

The Jets travel to TCF Bank Stadium on Sunday to face the Minnesota Vikings.
