Lionel Messi Hamstring Injury: World's Best Player Likely Out For The Rest Of The Season

Lionel Messi might have already played his last game of the season with Barcelona due to his persistent hamstring injury. Tests confirmed that the Argentinean international will be out of order for up to three weeks after he played on an injury that ultimately made it worse.

Messi picked up the hamstring injury in the first leg of Barca's Champions League quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain in early April and has been in and out of the line-up ever since, including Semi-Final clash against finalist Bayern Munich.

"The tests carried out this Tuesday morning showed that Leo Messi has a strain in the hamstring muscle of his right leg," the statement read. "The time on the sidelines is two to three weeks. His progress will determine his availability for future games. It must be remembered that the Argentine withdrew from the game against Atletico Madrid after feeling a problem in the same zone where he had previously been injured."

Should Messi miss Barcelona's last three games, against Valladolid, Malaga and Espanyol he will end the season on 46 La Liga goals, four short of the all-time record he set last season.
