ESPN The Magazine has announced San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Colin Kaepernick will be appearing in its annual “The Body Issue.” In a statement, the magazine said: “ESPN The Magazine launches its fifth Body Issue this year, an annual celebration of the athletic form featuring athletes from across the world of sports.
This year’s Body Issue will hit newsstands July 12 and Kaepernick will be featured in the issue." The photo spread will highlight Kaepernick’s physique and his well-chronicled, distinctive body art.
It’s been quite the off-season for Kaepernick, who after being inserted as the starting quarterback near midseason led the Niners within a win of the Super Bowl. Recently, he visited The White House and took pictures with First Lady Michelle Obama, where both of them were captured pulling off his trademark kiss-the-bicep pose. Kaepernick also recently landed an endorsement deal with Jaguar.
ESPN provided the following comment from Kaepernick: "Being selected by ESPN the Magazine for the Body Issue is an incredible honor. Thank you for believing in me, my 49ers family, and my INK!" The magazine made the announcement during its annual “Upfront” event promoting future programming and content for advertisers. The names of other athletes to be featured in the issue remain a mystery.
