He'll look to continue his consistent run of form in Mexico, something he failed to achieve in MLS in 2012. Bolaños featured in 29 games with Chivas USA, finishing his disappointing stint with three goals and four assists. Following his departure from the club, Goat Parade columnist Alicia Rodriguez understood his shortcomings were of no fault of his own.

"The only player to improve over the course of the 2012 season in my estimation with Chivas USA, Bolaños appeared to be ready to really make his mark in MLS in 2013," Rodriguez wrote (via SB Nation). "He scored early and often in the preseason, when Chivas were flying high and then everything came crashing to a halt."

"Chelís [Jose Luiz Sanchez Sola] talked up Bolaños heading into the season, but injuries hit him and muted his ability to contribute to a young and very inexperienced side."

Emelec ensured the same mistakes would not be repeated upon his return to his native land. Bolaños flourished in Ecuador's first division and is now prepared to do the same with the biggest club in North America.
