Tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET the Houston Rockets (6-1) will attempt to rebound from their first loss of the season when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves (2-4) in a surprising location-Mexico City. While the Wolves must forge on without point guard Ricky Rubio, who is dealing with a knee sprain, the Rockets will get center Dwight Howard back. "Dwight's back and he went through the entire practice (Monday)," head coach Kevin McHale said. They will be without point guard Patrick Beverley and power forward Terrence Jones.
This will be the first of two scheduled games in Mexico City, and McHale is not particularly pleased with the disruption of flow. "Honestly, I'd rather play the game in Houston," McHale said. "But the schedule maker throws the schedule out and you go."
The Wolves are relying on rookie Zach LaVine to replace Rubio, making them the only team in the NBA with multiple teenagers in the starting lineup. LaVine logged 25 minutes in his first start, putting up five points, six rebounds and four assists in a 10-point loss to the Miami Heat. "He didn't shy away from the stage," head coach Flip Saunders said of LaVine.
The other teenager in the lineup is No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, who has been unsteady in his first few games as a pro. Wiggins is averaging 9.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, one assist and 1.5 steals.
