Floyd Mayweather Jr. News: Roy Jones Jr. Says 'Money' Isn't 'Best Ever,' But Smartest At Making Money [VIDEO]

Floyd Mayweather Jr. wears hats to the ring bearing the letters "TBE," which stand for "The Best Ever." According to boxing legend and current HBO analyst Roy Jones Jr., however, Mayweather is not the best he's seen.

"Boxing skills...I ain't going to say he's the best I've ever seen at boxing, but he's the smartest I've ever seen for sure," Jones Jr. said.

"He was the smartest guy that ever [came] through as far as making money. I haven't seen nobody (sic) come through and generate the money that he's generated in the sport of boxing. So you gotta give him props for that."

Mayweather was named the top earning athlete in the world by Forbes in 2014, taking home $105 million for two fight with Canelo Alvarez and Marcos Maidana. He fought a rematch with Maidana in September that guaranteed him more than $30 million before pay-per-view sales and gate and merchandise revenue were calculated.

Mayweather is currently considered the top pound-for-pound boxer in the world, but Jones Jr. laughed off the thought that Mayweather could have beaten him in his prime. "Come on, man. This is Roy Jones Jr. Do we have to discuss that? Roy Jones Jr. during his prime against what? Godzilla, King-Kong, who?"

Mayweather could enhance his legacy by finally facing Manny Pacquiao, who for a time was considered his equal in the pound-for-pound rankings. Mayweather doesn't currently have an opponent or date set for his next fight, but if Pacquiao is able to defeat Chris Algieri on November 22 in Macau, China, he has repeatedly expressed interest in finally taking Mayweather on.
