Manny Pacquiao Next Fight: Jessie Vargas An Option At Junior Welterweight? [VIDEO]

Manny Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach has spoken of a move down to junior welterweight after Pacman faces Chris Algieri on November 22, and WBA junior welterweight belt holder Jessie Vargas may be in line for a crack at him.

Roach has mentioned Danny "Swift" Garcia as a target at 140 pounds, but he may take on Vargas first. Vargas is set to face Antonio Demarco on Pacquiao's undercard in China, but has acknowledged the possibility of a potential bout down the road.

"I have spoke to Mr. Arum and it's definitely a possibility but right now we're focused 100 percent on November 22 and defeating and knocking out Antonio Demarco, and that's the only thing we're focused on right now," Vargas said.

"God willing everything goes as planned that name has been spoken up and it's definitely a fight that could be the next one for us."

There's no guarantee Pacquiao will move down; the fight with Algieri is being contested at 144 pounds to test his viability at the lighter weight, but should Floyd Mayweather Jr. come calling for a super fight Pacquiao is likely to stay put and take it.

Still, Roach believes Pacquiao can regain his electric knockout power if he moves down. "He's never been a big puncher at 147," Roach said. "I don't think he's lost his punch or his killer instinct; he's just been fighting bigger, stronger guys. I think the knockouts will still start coming again at 140."

Pacquiao hasn't scored a knockout since 2009 when he defeated Miguel Cotto by TKO.
