After a memorable 2014 season with great defensive player sprinkled throughout all 162 games, the MLB will reveal the Rawlings 2014 Gold Glove Award winners in tonight's ceremony to kick off the MLB offseason.
For pitching, Mark Buehrle (Toronto Blue Jays), Felix Hernandez (Seattle Mariners) and Dallas Keuchel (Houston Astros) are up for the award on the American League side while Zack Greinke (Los Angeles Dodgers), Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers) and Adam Wainwright (St. Louis Cardinals) compete in the National League.
Behind the plate, the Detroit Tigers' Alex Avila, Yan Gomes of the Cleveland Indians and Salvador Perez of the AL champion Kansas City Royals face-off for the award. Over in the NL, the Milwaukee Brewers' Jonathan Lucroy, Russell Martin of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cardinals' Yadier Molina are finalists for the award.
Moving over to first base, Miguel Cabrera (Tigers), Eric Hosmer (Royals) and Albert Pujols (Los Angeles Angels) go at it for the AL award while Adrian Gonzalez (Dodgers), Adam LaRoche (Washington Nationals) and Justin Morneau (Colorado Rockies) duke it out for NL honors.
At second base, the AL is narrowed down to Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners, the Tigers' Ian Kinsler and Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox. The NL has boiled down to DJ LaMahieu of the Rockies, the Cincinnati Reds' Brandon Philips and Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Making our way around the diamond to shortstop, the AL field includes Alcides Escobar (Royals), J.J. Hardy (Baltimore Orioles) and Alexei Ramirez (Chicago White Sox) while the NL finalists include Zack Cozart (Reds), Adeiny Hechavarria (Miami Marlins) and Andrelton Simmons (Atlanta Braves).
Looking at the hot corner, Adrian Beltre of the Texas Rangers, Josh Donaldson of the Oakland Athletics and the Mariners' Kyle Seager are finalists on the AL side while the NL award will be decided between Nolan Arenado of the Rockies, World Series champion San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval and Juan Uribe of the Dodgers.
Moving on to the outfield, the award for the AL side in left field is between Michael Brantley (Indians), Yoenis Cespedes (Athletics/Red Sox) and Alex Gordon (Royals) while the NL is down to Starling Marte (Pirates), Justin Upton (Braves) and Christian Yelich (Marlins).
The centerfield award is between Jackie Bradley Jr. of the Red Sox, the White Sox's Adam Eaton and Adam Jones of the Orioles for the AL. NL finalists include Billy Hamilton of the Reds, New York Mets' centerfielder Juan Lagares and Denard Span of the Nationals.
Finally, in left field, the AL award boils down to Kole Calhoun (Angels), Kevin Kiermaier (Rays) and Nick Markakis (Orioles) while the NL is between Jason Heyward (Braves), Gerardo Parra (Arizona Diamondbacks/Brewers) and Giancarlo Stanton (Marlins).
