St. Louis enters play looking for its sixth straight win while New Jersey is hoping to notch its third consecutive victory. These teams split their pair of meetings last season, with each squad picking up a victory on home ice.

The Blues notched a 4-3 shootout victory against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Monday night and was lifted by Vladimir Tarasenko, who scored a highlight reel goal in regulation and notched the game-winning tally in the skills competition.

"He's as dynamic of a goal-scorer as anyone I've ever played with," Blues captain David Backes said of Tarasenko, according to NHL.com. "His shot and his burst of speed and his ability to find the net obviously is out of this world."

Tarasenko leads St. Louis in goals (7) and points (13) while defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk ranks first on the team in assists (9) and second in points (10). Jaden Schwartz has five tallies and three helpers to rank third on the Blues with eight points thus far this season.

The Devils are coming off of a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets in which the team notched two third period goals to earn the victory. Marek Zidlicky had a goal and an assist while Adam Larsson found the back of the net for the game-winning tally in the win.

Despite the victory, New Jersey was frustrated with its all-around effort through the first 40 minutes.

"The thing I'm mad about is we didn't play good enough in the first two periods," veteran forward Jaromir Jagr told NHL.com. "We don't make it easy and don't make the right plays and guys were getting frustrated. We can make it so much easier for ourselves and so much more enjoyable if we play the right way."

Jagr (two goals, six assists) is tied with defenseman Damon Severson (four markers, four helpers) for second on the team with eight points while Adam Henrique -- who tallied against the Blue Jackets -- leads the Devils with nine points by way of lighting the lamp four times and adding five assists.

In net, New Jersey is likely to turn to Cory Schneider, who is 6-3-2 this season with a 2.83 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. With this being the second night of a back-to-back, St. Louis' probable starter is backup Jake Allen, who is 2-1-0 with a 1.34 GAA and .944 save percentage.

The Blues look for their sixth straight win and second triumph in as many nights while the Devils hope to notch a third consecutive win when the puck drops tonight at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
