J.R. Smith’s love/hate relationship with New York Knicks fans has been raised yet another notch following their Game 1 Eastern Conference semifinals loss to the Indiana Pacers, and the volatile Smith’s subsequent Twitter rant.
Smith took to the electronic airwaves to refute reports he was out partying just hours before Game 1, during which the league’s top sixth-man shot an uncharacteristic 4-of-15, as the Knicks meekly surrendered their home court edge to the Pacers.
According to Next Impulse Sports, Smith tweeted: “First and foremost I wasn’t clubbing before the game so y’all can kill that. Don’t try and find reasons when I miss shots! #HopOff."
Smith then posted what he termed a bandwagon transferal form for all fair-weather Knick fans who might now be forecasting doom and gloom. Smith’s tirade comes on the heels of a mini meltdown just last week when he was again accused of clubbing the night before the Knicks Game 4 loss in Boston.
The Knicks went on to close out the Celts for their first playoff series win in more than a decade, but if Sunday’s 102-95 loss to Indiana was any indicator, the celebration may be short lived.
