Mario Chalmers Sued: Hit With Paternity Suit

A Miami-Dade County judge has ordered Heat star player Mario Chalmers to turn over all financial records after the mother of his three-year-old daughter moved to reopen a paternity and child support case against him.

According to Gossip Extra, Chalmers now pays roughly $2,600 a month in support for the child he fathered with longtime University of Kansas sweetheart Brittany Burrough. That agreement was established in 2012, when Chalmers was found to be the father of Queen Elizabeth Chalmers.  Since that time, Chalmers has inked a three-year extension with the Heat, including netting a sizeable raise that now pays him upwards of $4 million per season.

Citing Florida’s legal principle of “good fortune law,” Burrough’s attorney Roger Schindler argued” “Mr. Chalmers has been a gentleman and has been paying as agreed… but Mr. Chalmers is also  a very talented athlete whose income has substantially grown since that agreement. We’re asking for a modification that’s fair to both parties. “

Chalmers will now have roughly a month to respond. Meanwhile he and his Heat teammates reopen in hot pursuit of their second consecutive NBA title.

The Heat opens the second-round play early next week against the winner of the Chicago vs. Brooklyn series.
