CANADIENS vs CAPITALS Watch Live Stream Online & Listen: NHL Opening Week Live Coverage from Washington

Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET the Washington Capitals will make their 2014 debut at home against the Montreal Canadiens, who enter play with a little momentum after winning their opener 4-3 over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Live stream the action here; Canadiens fans can listen to the radio broadcast on TSN 990 broadcast on while Capitals fans may do likewise on WFED 1500 AM.

Tonight's game marks the first for new coach Barry Trotz, who was brought in to help Alex Ovechkin and the talented Capitals break their underachieving habits.

"Barry's teams have always played with structure, discipline and intensity, and I look forward to him leading us to success for many years to come," general manager Brian MacLellan said upon hiring Trotz.

The new coach is also believed to be capable of connecting with Ovechkin, a mercurial talent. "If Ovi is willing to listen," Trotz said, "he's going to have a chance to do some great team things. And he is willing to listen."

They will have to stop Canadiens C Tomas Plekanec, who scored two crucial goals to help the Habs top Toronto on Wednesday night. Plekanec tied the game at 2-2 in the second period, and then knocked in the go-ahead goal in the third.

Star Habs defenseman P.K. Subban was pleased with Montreal's overall effort. "It's even better to win these games when you play the right way, and I thought we did a lot of things well," Subban said.

"Still some areas we have to clean up, but I thought executing some new things in our game plan, I thought we did that very, very well. ... We had everybody involved. Our forwards definitely should feel confident right now with the way they're putting the puck in the net."
