The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers have agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract extension on Friday, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The deal would set a new record for the largest in NFL history, ending the short reign held by Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, who owned that disctinction following the signing of his contract in March.
Rodgers will make $40 million in 2013, a league source told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. The deal will add five years on top of the two years remaining on Rodgers current contract and will keep the quarterback in Green Bay through the 2019 season, a source told Schefter.
The Packers announced Friday that they'd signed the quarterback to a contract extension, although they didn't release details of the deal.
"An exciting day for our football program," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said in a statement. "Aaron is an excellent illustration of a Green Bay Packer. It is truly a blessing to witness his continued accomplishments, both on and off the field."
