Florida State Football Rumors: Jimbo Fisher Reinstates Jameis Winston; Says Suspension 'Hit Home' [VIDEO]

Florida State has officially reinstated Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston and coach Jimbo Fisher believes the one-game suspension ‘hit home’ with the quarterback.

When asked about Winston’s attitude on the sideline and what impact he feels the suspension had on the quarterback, Fisher felt that the team got the point across to Winston.

"Tremendously," Fisher said"I think you could see it on the sideline ... [but] he was a great influence for Sean [Maguire] and the other guys on the sideline. It was not for show or go. It was something heartfelt. I think it hit home, there's no doubt.”

Winston was named the starting quarterback for Florida State’s next game against NC State after sitting out the Seminoles' 23-17 overtime win Saturday against Clemson. During the pregame warm-ups, Winston dressed for the game as if he was going to play, but Fisher told the quarterback return to the locker room and remove his pads, helmet, pants and cleats. Winston rejoined his teammates on the sideline after following Fisher's instructions.

Fisher said that the incident was a ‘miscommunication’ and that Winston didn’t dress for the game to cause a stir.

"[The equipment staff] probably should have never had it in the locker, and that's exactly what happened. We saw it, corrected it. He was great about it, went in and came back out and did what he was asked to do.

"That was our fault internally. We were making adjustments, moving around, and that was one part that slipped through the cracks.”

Winston was suspended for last week's game after he stood on a table outside Florida State’s on-campus student union and shouted a sexually explicit phrase. Winston’s suspension was increased from the first half to the entire game after “he misled the administration.”

Florida State remains No. 1 in the AP Poll despite almost losing at home to the Clemson Tigers.
