Rihanna's breakups have been public before, so it should come as no surprise that her breakup with a television network has created ripples in the entertainment and athletic realms.

ExtraMustard.SI.com reported Tuesday that CBS has decided not to use the pop diva's version of the Jay-Z song "Run This Town" that she recorded for the opening of its "Thursday Night Football" broadcasts.

Lolo Jones tweet takes on Rihanna to help Lolo stay in the news cycle?

Beginning this Thursday, we will be moving in a different direction with some elements of our Thursday Night Football open," said a CBS Sports spokesperson, according to Extra Mustard. "We will be using our newly created Thursday Night Football theme music to open our game broadcast."

CBS' decision is in response to Rihanna's venting over the network's decision to pull her intro music for the season opener, as well as a comedic segment it had planned, to focus on the news surrounding the NFL's indefinite suspension of running back Ray Rice.

She was livid over the decision, as Extra Mustard relayed her response in a tweet.

"CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, F--k you! Y'all are sad for penalizing me for this," Rihanna tweeted.

Rihanna's intro music was to return this week after CBS used the opener to focus on the topic of domestic violence. Obviously, Rihanna wasn't consulted about, or privy to, the network's change of plans prior to the opener.

"It's important to realize we are not overreacting to this story, but it is as big a story as has faced the NFL," CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus told SI.com, which first reported the changes. "We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone and coverage. A lot of the production elements we wanted in the show are being eliminated because of time or tone."

The breakup is just another facet of the public's criticism with the way the NFL handled the Ray Rice domestic violence case.
