San Francisco 49ers Rumors: NFL to Investigate Colin Kaepernick's 'Inappropriate Language' Penalty [VIDEO]

The NFL has announced that they will look into the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick received Sunday night as a result of using inappropriate language.

The NFL announced that it will look into whether or not Kaepernick should have been penalized during its weekly officiating review meeting on Tuesday. Kaepernick said, after the 49ers 28-20 loss to the Bears, that he didn’t say anything that justified a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh has made it known that he expects an explanation for the penalty and that the league hasn't given him an answer as of Monday. Harbaugh, who was close to the incident, says he didn’t hear his quarterback say anything and that he would still like an explanation from the league after they have the official’s meeting.

Side judge Laird Hayes, who threw the flag, said that the 49er quarterback ‘knows what he said’ and stood by the call after the game. The NFL doesn't have an official list of words players can’t say on the field, but do expect racial slurs during the game to be penealized by the officals.

Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston was the closest to the situation and said that he didn’t hear Kaepernick say anything that would have warranted the penalty.

The 49ers were flagged for 16 penalties Sunday night, which is the second-most in the NFL since 2011. The 49ers have a divisional matchup with the 2-0 Arizona Cardinals this weekend after allowing the Bears to comeback and hand them their first loss of the season.
