The San Francisco 49ers are coming off an impressive road win against the Dallas Cowboys, but the rumors of troubles between coach Jim Harbaugh and the team continue to swirl. Is Harbaugh losing the locker room and could he be on his way out of San Francisco no matter how this season ends?
The rumors of Harbaugh and 49ers general manager Trent Baalke having a rocky relationship have been widely reported, but this news states that Harbaugh is losing his players as well. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added to the speculation on NFL Gameday Morning.
NFLPA Vote Could Reinstate Josh Gordon, Wes Welker
"According to sources I’m speaking with, including many in the 49ers locker room, Jim Harbaugh may already be losing the players,"
"[The 49ers' players] have dealt with a lot over the last couple of years," Rapoport said. "Some of the way he’s treated them, some lack of respect.”
The 49ers had one of the more eventful offseasons as they lost many pieces to on and off the field issues. The team lost NaVorro Bowman to a devastating knee injury in the 2013 playoffs, Aldon Smith has been suspended by the NFL for nine games and now Ray McDonald is facing alleged domestic violence charges while continuing to play for the team.
Colts, Robert Mathis to Part Ways After 2014?
Despite the fact that the 49ers have experienced some of their best years in recent memory under Harbaugh, it looks as of the two sides are heading toward a divorce. The 49ers are 36-11-1 under Harbaugh with three NFC title game appearances and one Super Bowl loss.
The 49ers were rumored to be close to trading Harbaugh to the Cleveland Browns in the offseason, but the coach apparently shot down the trade and refused to go to Cleveland. The 49ers are 1-0 and will host the Chicago Bears for the Week 2 edition on Sundat Night Football.
