The Cleveland Browns went from pitiful to hopeful all in one half of football as Brian Hoyer led them to the verge of victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Was Hoyer’s performance enough to hold off the Johnny Manziel talk for the foreseeable future?
The Browns rallied back from a 27-3 halftime deficit in Pittsburgh behind the leadership of Hoyer who put up a solid stat line for Cleveland in a hostile stadium. Hoyer finished the day with 230 yards and a touchdown pass, but more importantly didn't turn the ball over for the fourth straight game dating back to last season.

Coach Mike Pettine was asked about Hoyer and rookie Johnny Manziel’s status after the first game and said that the team didn’t need to make a change at quarterback.
"The way the game went we just never felt the need for him," Pettine said.
"We'll definitely move forward from this with some confidence in certain areas, but we also know there are a lot of things we need to correct," Pettine said.
With the way the Browns played and the way Hoyer lead the team to a 27-27 tie on the road ,before letting up a game winning field goal, Manziel should probably get used to sitting on the sidelines. Hoyer’s efficiency with his passes also allowed for the Browns to rush for 183 yards behind rookie Terrence West’s 100 yards on 16 carries. Free agent acquisition Ben Tate left the game with a knee injury and did not return.

Manziel was active off the field this weekend as he applied for a trademark on the name “Johnny Cleveland.” When “Johnny Cleveland” plays for the Browns, however, remains to be seen.
