Two clubs in opposite conferences of MLS will do battle today in a league match between the Vancouver Whitecaps and D.C. United. The first-division clash scheduled for 10 p.m. ET will be held at BC Place in Vancouver and can be live streamed here.
D.C. United head coach Ben Olsen had this to offer ahead of today's league encounter (via MLS's official website): "[Chris Pontius] is a great option [for us]. It comes at a very good time and every day he looks a little bit sharper and more like he's ready to step into a game. Barring any setbacks, I'm sure in the next week or two we could see him in the 18 and see him step into a game."
"I talked to Chris about this at one point," he added when asked about specific device delivered to Pontius. "When you're out for that long, you need an outlet. I chose to throw paint on a canvas. I think it's important to step away and find something to get some steam off."
Tactical Preview
Player to Watch: Vancouver's Matias Laba will be charged with disjointing United's midfield and stymying any counter-attack. The 22-year-old enters the weekend averaging an impressive 4.7 tackles and 2.6 interceptions per match.
