Pump the brakes on the Rob Gronkowski return train for just a second. Patriots coach Bill Belichick addressed Gronk’s status for Week 1 and the two sides don’t see eye to eye.
Gronkowski announced Monday that he was cleared to play in the Patriots Week 1 game against the Miami Dolphins, but his coach believes that All-Pro tight end has to take the process a day at a time before coming back into the fold.

Belichick spoke to the media Wednesday morning and addressed Gronkowski’s status and said that no final decision has been made, but he respects the tight end’s spirit.

Gronkowski is a two-time Pro Bowler and was an All-Pro for the 2011 season. Since 2011, Gronkowski has been bitten by the injury bug and has only appeared in 18 games over the past two seasons. Gronkowski has 42 career touchdowns in four seasons including a 90 catch, 1,327 yard and 17 touchdown effort in 2011.
